What is Zaagi'idiwin?
Zaagi'idiwin is an Anishinaabemowin word that expresses unconditional love, compassion, and respect for all life. It is a love that is freely given, nurtured through reciprocity, and strengthened by our responsibilities to one another.
This love extends beyond human relationships to include the land, water, plants, animals, and future generations.Â
Zaagi'idiwin reminds us that we are all connected and that our well-being depends on the health and balance of the world around us.
It is a way of living rooted in gratitude, stewardship, and respect for the web of life that sustains us all.
Our Mission
Zaagi'idiwin exists to support the re-indigenization of self to place, no matter where one comes from. We believe that belonging is rooted in relationship, and that every person has a responsibility to honor and care for the land that holds them. Through rebuilding reciprocal relationships with the natural world, we remember our connection to the earth, to ourselves, and to one another. In this remembering, healing becomes possible.
